Day Six: Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

(Please forgive me if this is a little disjointed…I’m trying to blog and watch men’s gymnastics and men’s swimming at the same time…talk about a little distracted. LOL!)

Day six! We started our day with a chairlift ride to the top of the President’s Alpine Slide. Thanks to Grandpa for this pic of me (and Avery and Wade) on the chairlift.

There’s Grandpa and Tyler on the chair behind us…and just behind them, Grandma and Benji…

They had this Rushmore photo-op at the top of the lift.  Tyler said that he had to look off to the side and not smile. That’s how presidents look. He cracks me up!

Avery was trying his best not to laugh…

I think Benji nailed it.

Grandma and Grandpa posing in front of the waterfall. (It was an incredibly sunny day!)

Thanks again to Grandpa. It’s nice to have some pictures of me and Wade on this trip.

The view from the top of the slide…

We got to the top just at lunchtime. The boys with G and G.

And then it was time to come back down… Grandpa was nice enough to come down first and take pictures of the rest of us coming down. Wade and Avery were next.

Here comes Tyler with his hair blowing in the breeze.

I took it easy coming down. I didn’t want to fly off the track!

Grandma and Benji having a great ride.

Next we took the boys for a gold panning experience at Big Thunder Gold Mine. We opted not to take the tour (I was certainly happy about that!) and just do the panning. We got a guide and some pans and headed out to the troughs. The guide showed us how to find the gold, and we were off to our own devices. Here are the boys waiting for instructions…

Avery had Daddy working for with him.

Tyler was very intense. He certainly didn’t want to leave. He was *all* about the GOLD!

Benji batted his blue eyes and got Grandma to help him out.

Somehow, I ended up with one of the three pans and found a little real gold myself!

It was really hot out there in the sun and Benji was ready to go. He just loves carrying Mommy’s purse… heehee

After all of the “kid” activities for the day, we decided to take the grownups somewhere fun…Prairieberry Winery! We got to sample and decided to bring some home with us. I present…our selections…

Can’t wait to bust these babies open!

Up next, Day Seven: Seriously. Another cave.

  1. Heather,
Well you are definitely a “multi-tasker”.
I mean Holy Speedo!!!!! Did you get to see the opening ceremonies of the Olympics? Unbelievable!
And it looks like everyone is going for the gold even the Harrells. It is great to see the guys all having a good time. And the perfect ending to a perfect day is to celebrate the grape. You are obviously members of the local “Winer’s Club”. Good selection! Save some for us.
    Love always,
    Dad
